Introduction

Analysis of the core framework of the standard

GB/T41295.3-2022, as the third part of the functional safety application guide series of standards, systematically specifies the test and verification requirements for safety-critical systems at all stages of the entire life cycle. The standard adopts a layered test architecture, which mainly includes:

Test level Verification focus Applicable stage
Hardware test Circuit reliability/diagnostic coverage R&D/production
Software test Code compliance/MC/DC coverage Development stage
Integration test Interface consistency/timing performance System joint debugging
Fault insertion test Failure mode verification SIL certification

Correlation between SIL level and test intensity

The standard establishes a quantitative relationship between test depth and safety requirements through the Safety Integrity Level (SIL):

  • SIL1 system: basic function test + partial structure test
  • SIL3 system: forced fault injection + 100% MC/DC coverage
  • SIL4 system: extended environment test + statistical reliability verification

Typical application case: A safety instrument system determined through the Fault Insertion Test Degree Matrix in Table 4 that SIL3 level requires component-level medium-strictness testing, verifying more than 90% diagnostic coverage.

Innovative test methods

1. Fault Insertion Test (FIT)

The standard innovatively proposes a three-level fault simulation strategy:

  1. Device level: Simulate IC pin open/short circuit
  2. Component level: Verify safety communication protocol fault tolerance
  3. System level: Power supply transient fault response test

2. Enhanced EMC testing

Compared with conventional equipment, functional safety systems need to perform:

  • Pulse group immunity test time is extended by 50%
  • Radiated immunity field strength is increased by 20dB
  • Based on IEC61326-3x series standards

Implementation recommendations
