Introduction

1. Scope and applicability of the standard

This standard specifies the determination of free propylene oxide in propylene oxide polymerized surfactants by gas chromatography. It is applicable to surfactant products with polypropylene glycol as raw materials, including liquid, paste or solid samples.


2. Background and significance of standard formulation

Propylene oxide polymerized surfactants are widely used in detergents and personal care products. GB/T 42238-2022 is revised and formulated based on ISO 19619:2018, and improves operability and applicability in combination with my country's technical conditions.

3. Principle of Assay

Steps Description
Sample Preparation Weigh the sample into a headspace injection bottle, add DMAC solvent and seal it.
Chromatographic Separation A fused silica capillary column (30m × 0.32mm × 1.0μm) was used for separation.
Detection Method A flame ionization detector (FID) or mass spectrometer (MSD) was used for qualitative analysis by retention time and an external standard method for quantitative analysis.

4. Implementation Suggestions

Operational Notes:

  • Ensure sample homogeneity, and use heating or solvent assistance if necessary.
  • Headspace injection temperature and time should be strictly controlled to avoid sample decomposition or volatilization loss.
  • Chromatographic conditions should be optimized according to instrument performance, especially when transferring methods.
