Evolution of key technologies

This standard integrates traditional chemical analysis methods with modern instrumental analysis methods:

  • Chemical method: retain the classic iodine titration (hydrogen sulfide) and neutralization titration (carbon dioxide) to ensure the reliability of basic data
  • Instrumental method: newly added gas chromatography (process gas analysis) and ultraviolet fluorescence method (total sulfur determination) to improve analysis efficiency

Typical application cases

Determination of low concentration hydrogen sulfide in purified gas

A natural gas purification plant adopts Molybdenum blue spectrophotometry (Chapter 5.2) Monitor 0-25mg/m³ hydrogen sulfide in purified gas:

  1. Prepare ammonium molybdate colorimetric solution (3.4.1.10)
  2. Select sampling volume according to Table 1 (1-10L)
  3. Control the absorption flow rate at 200-300mL/min
  4. Measure absorbance at a wavelength of 600nm

The relative standard deviation of this method is ≤10% (when H₂S>5mg/m³)

Key points for safety protection

  • All hydrogen sulfide analyses must comply with SY/T 6137 safety regulations
  • Positive pressure respirators are required for acid gas sampling
  • The laboratory should be equipped with H₂S alarm device

Quality control measures

  • Monthly calibration of standard solution (Clause 3.4.2)
  • Aging of chromatographic column every 3 months (8.4.3.4)
  • Relative deviation control of parallel samples (repeatability requirements of each chapter)
