Scope

This document describes the test methods for ground-based simulation of space radiation effects on non-metallic materials. These include the characteristics of the space radiation environment during the simulation test, the properties of aerospace materials, requirements for space radiation simulation, simulated radiation sources, and optional simulation methods. This document is applicable to ground-based simulation testing of space radiation effects on non-metallic materials. Non-metallic materials include paint, glass, ceramics, polymers, polymer-metal composites such as metal matrix composites, and laminates.
