《GB/T 4498.2-2017橡胶 灰分的测定 第2部分:热重分析法》由TC35(全国橡胶与橡胶制品标准化技术委员会)归口,主管部门为中国石油和化学工业联合会。
Introduction
1. Background and significance of the standard
GB/T 4498 "Determination of ash content in rubber" is divided into two parts: Part 1 stipulates the muffle furnace method, while Part 2 introduces the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). This standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Rubber and Rubber Products. The background of its formulation mainly stems from the need for accurate determination of ash content in rubber materials, especially in the wide application of raw rubber, compound rubber and vulcanized rubber.
2. Comparison of standard frameworks
| Standard name | Scope of application | Determination method | Definition of ash content |
|---|---|---|---|
| GB/T 4498.1 | Determination of ash content of raw rubber, rubber compound and vulcanized rubber | Muffle furnace method | Mass of residue after combustion at high temperature |
| GB/T 4498.2 | Same as above | Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) | Mass of residue after combustion in nitrogen and oxygen environment |
| Comparison of international standards | ISO 1130-2:1995 | TGA method | Similar definition, but different specific temperature and gas conditions |
3. Implementation suggestions and precautions
3.1 Laboratory conditions
The laboratory needs to be equipped with a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) that meets the standard requirements, and its components include a thermobalance, a heating furnace, and a programmable temperature control device. The gas purity requirements are strict, and the volume fraction of nitrogen and oxygen must be ≥99.99%.
3.2 Sample preparation and processing
For raw rubber samples, the sample preparation shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T15340 or GB/T24131-2009. For compound rubber and vulcanized rubber, the open mill tableting method and the sample preparation method specified in GB/T17783 shall be adopted respectively. All samples shall be sheared into particles with a particle size of ≤2mm to ensure the uniformity of the test.
3.3 Method comparison and selection
Method A is suitable for raw rubber, while method B is for compound rubber and vulcanized rubber. The two methods differ in heating rate, termination temperature and gas switching conditions, and the appropriate method shall be selected according to the specific sample type.
