Introduction
Overview of the Standard for Endangered Level Assessment of Poultry Genetic Resources
GB/T 45199-2025 "Evaluation of Endangered Level of Poultry Genetic Resources" national standard specifies the endangered level classification and assessment methods of live poultry genetic resources. This standard applies to poultry breeds such as chickens, ducks, geese and pigeons, and aims to scientifically assess the protection needs of genetic resources and guide the management and utilization of germplasm resources.
Background of Standard Formulation
With the development of global animal husbandry, poultry genetic diversity faces severe challenges. Many local breeds are on the verge of extinction due to the impact of industrialized farming. In order to protect and rationally utilize poultry genetic resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs proposed and formulated this standard. The introduction of the standard fills the gap in the field of domestic poultry genetic resource assessment and has important scientific significance and practical value.
Technology Evolution Analysis
This standard is based on genetic theory and population ecology principles, combined with modern statistical methods, to establish an evaluation system with the inbreeding coefficient as the core. Compared with previous standards, this standard has achieved breakthroughs in the following aspects:
- The calculation model is introduced to quantify the degree of genetic diversity loss
- Distinguish between random seed retention and family equal seed retention to provide a more accurate assessment method
- For the first time, the male-female ratio is included in the endangered level assessment system
Endangered level classification and assessment methods
| Poultry species | Seed retention methods | Endangered level classification | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Endangered | Severely endangered | Dangerous | Relatively low risk | Safe | ||
| Chicken | Randomly save seeds | ≤149 | 150~204 | 205~316 | 317~649 | ≥650 |
| Duck | Randomly save seeds | ≤111 | 112~153 | 154~237 | 238~487 | ≥488 |
Implementation Suggestions
In actual operation, it is recommended to:
- Establish a poultry genetic resources database to record the basic information and reproduction data of each breed
- Carry out regular population surveys and calculations
- Formulate protection and utilization strategies according to different endangered levels
