Introduction
Interpretation of the core content of the standard
This standard applies to sensory training equipment for children under 12 years old, such as vestibular training products and proprioception training products. It systematically standardizes the safety technical system of sensory integration products for the first time.
Comparison of key technical requirements
| Item | Less than 36 months | More than 36 months |
|---|---|---|
| Small parts restrictions | Prohibited | Warning signs required |
| Colour fastness of textiles | ≥Grade 3-4 | ≥Grade 3 |
| Formaldehyde limit | ≤30mg/kg | Not required |
Key points of mechanical and physical safety
Sharp edge control: Products intended for children under 96 months of age shall not have dangerous sharp edges in accessible parts after the 6.4 test (test force ≤ 0.68N·m).
Structural stability: Products with a height of > 760mm and a mass of > 4.5kg must pass the 15° tilt test (6.12) to prevent the risk of tipping.
Chemical safety limits
Plasticizer control: The total content of 4 phthalates such as DEHP is ≤ 0.1% (6.18 test), and 3 substances such as DINP are additionally restricted for parts in contact with the mouth.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: The total content of 8 PAHs such as benzo(a)pyrene in rubber/plastic materials is ≤ 1mg/kg (6.21 test).
Typical test methods
Drop test: Products under 18 months old need to drop from a height of (138±5)cm 10 times (Table 10). After the test, they should still meet the functional requirements of 5.4.
Sound pressure test: Sound-emitting products A-weighted sound pressure level ≤85dB, C-weighted peak ≤115dB (6.13 test).
Implementation Suggestions
1. Age-grading management: Strictly distinguish between the 36-month/96-month age groups, and implement differentiated management and control of the choking risks of small balls, marbles, etc.
2. Material selection: Prioritize environmentally friendly plasticizers that comply with GB/T 22048, and avoid the use of recycled rubber materials
3. Process control: Injection molded parts need to be deburred, and metal parts should be electroplated for rust prevention (Clause 5.2c)
