Scope
This document specifies the product designations, requirements, inspection rules, marking, accompanying documentation, packaging, transportation, and storage of brominated isobutylene-isoprene rubber (BIIR) (commonly known as bromobutyl rubber). It also describes the corresponding test methods for BIIR technical indicators. This document applies to bromobutyl rubber obtained by brominating isobutylene-isoprene rubber, which is produced by low-temperature copolymerization of isobutylene and isoprene using methyl chloride as the solvent.
