Scope

This document specifies the material requirements, chemical safety requirements, flammability requirements, mechanical and physical performance requirements, labeling, and instructions for use for infant safety gates, and describes the corresponding test methods. This document applies to infant safety gates for indoor use by infants under 24 months of age (typically under 930mm in height), including infant safety gates and infant safety fences. This document does not apply to playpens or safety railings installed beside beds or in front of windows. Note: The term "infant safety gate" in this document is a general term encompassing both infant safety gates and infant safety fences.
