Scope

This standard is a basic standard that specifies the basic test methods and procedures (when required by the detail specification) applicable to electromechanical components within the scope of IEC/TC 48 technical committee. Basic test methods and test procedures are also applicable to similar components (when specified in the detail specification). The purpose of this standard is to determine the test methods and measurement procedures applicable to the specification of electromechanical components and to be used together with IEC 68. This standard is to be used together with general specifications, sub-specifications and (or) detailed specifications. The general specification, sub-specification and (or) detailed specification shall select and explain the test items adopted, the severity level required for each test and the permissible range of performance indicators. The detail specification shall also specify the deviations from the standard test procedure which are necessary for the test of the type of component considered and may further specify special tests which may be required.
