Introduction

1. Standard Overview

GB/T 5170.16-2018 "Environmental test equipment test methods Part 16: Centrifuge for steady-state acceleration test" specifies the characteristic requirements, measuring instruments, measurement uncertainty, test conditions and test methods for centrifuges for steady-state acceleration test. This standard applies to the test methods for the basic parameters of centrifuges for steady-state acceleration test specified in GB/T 2423.15, and also applies to the inspection of similar test equipment.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard requirements GB/T 5170.16—2018 Replaces standard GB/T5170.16—2005
Characteristic requirements Indicators such as installation calculation radius, rotation speed indication and stability have been added. The measurement uncertainty chapter is not included, and the inspection items are relatively simple.
Measuring instruments The relative expanded uncertainty requirements (k=2) of each measuring instrument are clarified. The uncertainty requirements of measuring instruments are not specified in detail.
Test conditions The requirements for ambient temperature, humidity and power supply voltage fluctuation range are refined. The environmental conditions are relatively general.

3. Background of standard implementation

As the requirements for environmental adaptability of electronic products increase, the accuracy and reliability of centrifuges used in steady-state acceleration tests are particularly important as key test equipment. The release of GB/T 5170.16-2018 replaces the old standard GB/T5170.16-2005, further refines the inspection requirements, and adds the content of measurement uncertainty assessment, making the inspection of centrifuges more scientific and standardized.

4. Implementation Suggestions

4.1 Selection and Calibration of Measuring Instruments

Select measuring instruments that meet the requirements, such as vernier calipers (relative expanded uncertainty ≤ 0.2%), tachometers (relative expanded uncertainty ≤ 0.1%), etc., and calibrate them regularly to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the measurement results.

4.2 Inspection Condition Control

During the inspection process, strictly control the environmental conditions: temperature range 15~35°C, humidity not exceeding 80%, power supply voltage fluctuation range within ±10%. At the same time, ensure that the centrifuge is clean and free of corrosive gas or liquid interference.

4.3 Acceleration Gradient and Tangential Acceleration Ratio Test

Under full load, measure the minimum and maximum radius of the inspection load and calculate the acceleration gradient ratio (within ±10%). For no-load conditions, test the time it takes for the spindle speed to rise from zero to the set value and then fall back to zero to ensure that the tangential acceleration ratio meets the requirements (within ±10%).

4.4 Measurement uncertainty assessment

According to the requirements of Appendix A, analyze the sources of measurement uncertainty in detail, including environmental factors such as gravity, speed fluctuation, installation radius tolerance, and temperature. Use the GUM method to calculate the expanded uncertainty and ensure that it meets the specified range.
