1 General
1.1 Scope
This part of GB/T 5271 specifies the terms and definitions of selected concepts relevant to the field of information technology and identifies relationships among the entries.
In order to facilitate their translation into other languages, the definitions are drafted so as to avoid, as far as possible, any peculiarity attached to a language.
This part defines concepts in artificial intelligence related to neural networks, their components, connections and functions.
1.2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of GB/T 5271. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this part. However, parties to agreements based on this part are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.

1.3 Principles and rules followed
1.3.1 Definition of an entry
Section 2 comprises a number of entries. Each entry consists of a set of essential elements that includes an index number, one term or several synonymous terms, and a phrase defining one concept. In addition, an entry may include examples, notes or illustrations to facilitate understanding of the concept. Occasionally, the same term may be defined in different entries, or two or more concepts may be covered by one entry, as described in 1.3.5 and 1.3.8 respectively.
Other terms such as vocabulary, concept, term and definition, are used in this part with the meaning given in GB/T 15237.1.
