Scope

This standard specifies the accuracy requirements for general hobs with a module of 0.5 mm to 40 mm. This standard is applicable to the machining of gears in accordance with GB/T 1356 and GB/T 1357. Applicable hob types include solid and grooved spur and spiral groove gear hobs. The basic characteristics of the hobs are graded according to accuracy as follows:
　——Grade 4A - Grade 3A - Grade 2A - Grade 1 - Grade B - Grade C - Grade D Among them, Grade 4A is the highest accuracy level. In addition to the basic inspection of the hob, this standard also provides the allowable tolerances for comprehensive inspection along the cutting edge. The two groups of inspection methods are different and one should be selected according to the specific situation. If there is no previous agreement and the hob meets one of the two inspection methods, the hob is evaluated according to the above accuracy level. Note: The tolerances of this standard apply to gear hobs whose dimensions comply with GB/T 6083, but as a precautionary measure, these tolerances also apply to hobs not specified in this standard.
