Introduction
Standard Overview and Technical Evolution
GB/T 6608-1999 replaces the 1986 version of the standard and standardizes the technical process of measuring the thickness of aluminum foil by analytical balance weighing method. This method measures the mass of a sample with a known area and calculates the thickness by combining the density parameter. The measurement range is limited to below 0.05mm.

Key implementation steps
- Use standard sampling plate to cut ≥2 samples
- Drying after solvent cleaning
- Accurately weigh on an analytical balance (accuracy 0.1mg)
- Calculate thickness according to the formula: δ=W×10/(ρ×A×n)
Density calculation specifications
Take 1145 grade as an example:
- Rounding rules for element content: When Fe+Si≤0.4%, calculate as 0.28%
- The calculated density value of 2.70226 is rounded to 2.700g/cm³
- When the aluminum content is ≥99.35%, round it to 0.005 times
Error control requirements
The maximum error formula is: E=|0.4+0.07/W|%. When the sample weight W=1g, the theoretical error is 0.47%. Notes in actual operation:
- Regular calibration of balance
- Environmental temperature and humidity control
- Sampling edge flatness

Implementation suggestions
Operation optimization:It is recommended to use a constant temperature and humidity laboratory and preheat the balance for 30 minutes before weighing. For ultra-thin foils (<0.01mm), the number of samples should be increased to more than 5 pieces to improve the measurement signal-to-noise ratio.
Equipment selection:It is recommended to use a one millionth balance (0.01mg accuracy) to measure ultra-light samples, which can reduce the systematic error in formula (3).
