Scope

This standard provides specifications and test methods for determining the fire safety of photographic films. This standard applies to raw and processed films of various known plastic supports. These specifications apply to silver halide film (both gelatin and non-gelatin), color film, diazo film, microfoam film, and narrow-strip and full-width coated film. Tapes and videotapes are not included. Appendix B introduces a test method for on-site detection of film burning performance, and the marking method of safety film is listed in Appendix C. Appendix D introduces a simple test method for distinguishing non-safe nitrocellulose base from safe cellulose acetate base and polyester base.
