Scope

This standard, together with GB/T 8190.1, specifies the measurement and assessment methods for gas and particle emissions of reciprocating internal combustion engines under site steady-state conditions, so as to determine the weighted value of each non-gas pollutant. Combinations of various engine loads and speeds can reflect different uses (see GB/T 8190.4). This standard is recommended for marine installations, generating sets, diesel electric locomotives or similar reciprocating internal combustion engines that require on-site measurement or are impossible to measure under test conditions or cannot use test benches to measure results. This standard does not apply to non-road vehicle engine-driven vehicles. Such as not suitable for agricultural tractors and harvesters, earth moving machinery, large off-highway trucks (typically used in mining), lawn maintenance and utility general equipment and forklifts. The engines that drive this equipment must be certified on test benches. If these engines are to be reinspected or recertified after modification, they should preferably be tested off-vehicle with a suitable load and measurement device such as a dynamometer or load bank. This method can be used for the consistency inspection or certification of new, old or modified engines on site, and the verification of the results of the GB/T 8190.4 test bench can also be carried out according to this standard. The measurement points of the rotational speed and torque when the engine is running must be the same as those used for the test bench measurement; however, certain differences from the operating parameters of the engine in the laboratory are allowed. When used in engines with other requirements (such as occupational health and safety regulations, power plant regulations), it may be necessary to supplement additional test conditions and special evaluation methods. Note 1: This standard is used to determine the specific requirements for measuring gas and particle emissions in the field. Emissions from any engine can and are primarily measured on test benches. The measurement accuracy is high, the repeatability is good and the test is convenient on the test bench. Test bench measurements using defined test cycles are representative of common typical use in engines. The test cycle specified in GB/T 8190.4 cannot always be reproduced on site due to the load limitation. On-site measurement must be carried out only under the following requirements and conditions: a) When the on-site conditions cannot be replicated, making the type test unsuitable for test-bed measurement, this test is a substitute for test-bed measurement. Therefore, the test should be carried out according to the test cycle in GB/T 8190.4. Example 1) When the fuel actually used on site cannot be used due to the limitation of the fuel supply environment at the test bench site. 2) When the environmental conditions of the test bench cannot represent the on-site conditions due to differences in altitude, humidity and air temperature, in this case, this standard is only applicable to those that can reproduce the measurement points specified in GB/T 8190.4 on site Engines; such as marine engines on sea trials, engines installed for the first time on generators and diesel-electric locomotives. b) When it is necessary to measure on site in order to assess the actual local pollution situation. This should be done under actual or simulated conditions. It is impossible for the engine to always run under the test cycle specified in GB/T 8190.4, but the test procedure should be as close as possible to this procedure. Therefore, the measured values in this case cannot be directly compared with the test rig results, since the measured values are largely dependent on the test cycle. c) when on-site measurements are agreed upon by the parties involved. Measured values represent specific engines under specific site conditions and may not necessarily represent average or typical values. Since the measured values depend largely on the test cycle, in most cases the measured values cannot be compared with the test bench results. d) When it is necessary to measure on site in order to check the consistency of the old engine or modified engine with the standard. If the current measurement cannot fully reproduce the same operating conditions as the test bench, the emission value is not equal to the value measured on the test bench. For this reason, the site must be limited to those that can be operated according to the same test cycle as that used for the certification of the test rig.
