Scope

This standard specifies electromechanical switches for electrical and electronic equipment. Switches to which this standard applies: a) devices for breaking, making or switching circuit connections by means of mechanical movement of conductive parts (contacts); b) a maximum rated voltage of 480V; c) a maximum rated current of 63A. This section does not apply to keyboards and keypads for information handling systems. This standard is also applicable to electromechanical key (key) switches. Switch families will be described in detail specifications corresponding to this master specification.
