Introduction

Standard Overview

GJB 8892.2-2017, as the terminology component of the Weapons and Equipment Argumentation Standards series, replaces GJBz 20221.2-1994 and specifies 208 core terms and their English equivalents. The standard was published on May 18, 2017, and implemented on July 1, 2017.

Terminology Architecture

Classification Number of Terms Core Concepts
Basic Concepts 72 Equipment Systems, Combat Platforms, Support Models, etc.
Demonstration Process 56 Technology Maturity, Risk Analysis, Effectiveness Evaluation, etc.
Equipment Characteristics 48 Reliability, Maintainability, Electromagnetic Compatibility, etc.
Management Requirements 32 Configuration management, standardization, life cycle, etc.

Key Terms Analysis

1. Weapons and Equipment Demonstration (2.1.21)

Defined as "the use of scientific methods to systematically analyze and verify the development requirements, technical approaches, and operational effectiveness of weapons and equipment." This includes three levels: requirements demonstration, solution demonstration, and technical demonstration.

2. Three Requirements (2.3.37)

Generalization, serialization, and modularization are collectively referred to as:

  • Generalization: Interchangeability of components between different systems (e.g., avionics system interface standards)
  • Serialization: Functional gradient development (e.g., missile range series)
  • Modularization: Building block combination (e.g., shipborne weapon modules)

Technology Evolution Analysis

Compared with the 1994 edition, new terms account for 63%, mainly reflected in:

  1. Informatization equipment related: data link (2.1.71), complex electromagnetic environment (2.3.28)
  2. Life cycle management: equipment retirement processing (2.1.60), life extension assessment (2.1.59)
  3. New Verification Methods: Operational Test (2.3.67), Simulation Demonstration (2.1.76)

Implementation Recommendations
