Scope

This standard specifies test methods for determining certain physical and mechanical properties of rubber filaments. Due to the small cross-section of the rubber wire and the special conditions for use of this material, certain special test methods have been developed. Some of the tests in this standard are not fully applicable to rubber filaments made of synthetic rubber, such as polyurethane rubber. These tests are for use with natural rubber or synthetic polyisoprene rubber. It must be noted that comparisons can only be made on new filaments or on filaments identical to these processes. When analyzing test results from filaments that have been subjected to winding or other production processes, it is important to remember the past processing process and to state in the test report what is known and what relaxation treatments were used. .
