本标准适用于区域层面、饮用水源保护区和补给区、污染源及周边等区域的地下水环境的长期监测。其他形式的地下水环境监测可参照执行。


Introduction

Standard Revision Background and Technical Evolution

HJ 164-2020 replaces the 2004 version of the standard. The main revisions include: adding the definition of the term environmental monitoring well, strengthening the monitoring requirements around drinking water source areas and pollution sources, and canceling the appendix on information system construction. This revision reflects the technical transformation of my country's groundwater monitoring from basic data collection to refined management.

Key indicators for monitoring well construction

Material specifications:PVC is prohibited for well pipes, stainless steel or galvanized steel is recommended, and the opening rate of the filter pipe is ≥15%

Water-stopping requirements:The target aquifer and other layers must be completely water-stopped, and the water-stopping material is bentonite or cement slurry

Identification system:New unified coding and QR code nameplates, including 12 basic information such as well depth and filter pipe interval


Recommendations for the implementation of pollution source monitoring

Industrial agglomeration areas need to set up fan-shaped distribution points (3 downstream + 1 on each side), and gas stations use the triangular distribution method. In karst areas, ≥3 monitoring points need to be set up along the main pipeline of the underground river, and 1 additional point is set up every 2km of the tributary pipeline.

Feature project selection: The petrochemical industry needs to monitor MTBE and petroleum hydrocarbons (C6-C40), and mining areas need to increase heavy metal indicators such as beryllium and thallium.
