Scope

This standard specifies a headspace/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the determination of volatile halogenated hydrocarbons in soils and sediments. This standard is applicable to the determination of 35 volatile halogenated hydrocarbons such as methyl chloride in soil and sediments. Other volatile halogenated hydrocarbons also apply to this standard if verified. When the sampling amount is 2 g, the method detection limit of 35 volatile halogenated hydrocarbons is 2~3 μg/kg, and the lower determination limit is 8~12 μg/kg. See Appendix A for details.
