Scope

This standard specifies a purge and trap/gas chromatography method for the determination of volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (C6-C9) in water. This standard is applicable to the determination of volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (C6-C9) in surface water, groundwater, seawater, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. When the sampling volume is 10.0 ml, the detection limit of volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (C6-C9) determined by this standard is 0.02 mg/L, and the lower determination limit is 0.08 mg/L. When the sampling volume is 20.0 ml, the detection limit of volatile petroleum hydrocarbons (C6-C9) determined by this standard is 0.01 mg/L, and the lower determination limit is 0.04 mg/L.
