Scope

This standard specifies the Ringelmann smoke blackness diagram method for determining the blackness of smoke, including the observation location and conditions, observation methods, calculation methods, and specifications of the standard Ringelmann smoke blackness diagram. This standard is applicable to the monitoring of the blackness of gray or black smoke emitted from fixed pollution sources at the discharge outlet, and is not applicable to the monitoring of smoke of other colors.
