Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements for liquid penetrant testing of surface opening defects, penetrant testing methods, and grade classification of defect display traces. This standard is applicable to the detection of surface opening defects produced during the manufacturing, installation and use of valves. This standard does not apply to non-surface opening defects and porous materials.
