Introduction

Standard Revision Background and Technological Innovation

JC/T 890-2017, replacing the 2001 version, features key improvements: redefining the performance indicators for thin-bed masonry mortar (mortar joints ≤ 5mm), adding new plaster classifications (Type B/Type L), and optimizing the waterproofing grade of interfacial mortar (Type P/Type F). This standard addresses the compatibility issues between traditional mortar and AAC panels, responding to the growing demand for prefabricated buildings.

Key technologies for engineering application

Key points for thin layer masonry construction

Use special toothed scraper to control the mortar joint thickness ≤5mm, and the moisture content of the base layer should be <15%. A case study shows that after using DMa-M10 mortar in a prefabricated project, the wall cracking rate was reduced by 62%.

Interface Treatment Solution

F-type interface mortar must be used in waterproof areas, with a coating amount of ≥1.5kg/m². Tested data shows that the bond strength of walls treated with F-type mortar increased by over 40%.


Key points of quality control

  • Raw material control: Sand moisture content ≤0.5%, cement preferably P·O42.5
  • Factory inspection: Water retention and bond strength must be inspected for every 400 tons batch
  • Storage management: The shelf life of bagged products is 6 months, and they must be stored in a moisture-proof manner

Suggestions for standard implementation

1. The mortar type marking (e.g., DMa-M10-JC/T890-2017) should be clearly defined during the design phase.
2. A bond strength pull-off test must be conducted before construction (refer to Appendix A).
3. During winter construction, antifreeze must be added to the interface mortar and the curing time must be extended.
