Scope
This standard specifies the technical performance requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging and storage of VHF emergency radio position indicating beacons. This standard is applicable to cargo ships of over 300 tonnage and all passenger ships sailing in the Al sea area. When in distress at sea, it sends a distress alarm to other ships on the coast and nearby and provides radio alarm equipment for its location.
