Interpretation of the core content of the standard

MT/T 1200-2023 is my country's first industry standard for explosion-proof lithium-ion battery power sources in coal mines. It focuses on standardizing the safety technical requirements of lithium iron phosphate batteries in explosive environments.

Special requirements for explosion-proof structure

The standard innovatively proposes chamber isolation design:

  • The battery must be placed independently in the explosion-proof chamber, and the static pressure test ≥1.5MPa
  • When the capacity is greater than 100Ah, a free space of 7 times the volume of the single cell must be reserved
  • It is mandatory to configure a manual isolation switch
Typical application case: The power supply of a mining inspection robot is designed with a double-layer pressure relief structure, and the pressure relief response time is <5ms, and it has successfully passed the GB 3836.2-2021 certification.


Key functions of battery management system (BMS)

The standard requires that BMS must have 12 core protection functions:

  1. Voltage monitoring error ≤±0.5%FS
  2. Three-level temperature protection (warning/derating/cutoff)
  3. Dynamic balancing current 50-1000mA
  4. Low-temperature charging lock (charging prohibited at <5℃)
A certain type of mining power supply uses a multi-parameter coupling algorithm to improve the SOC estimation accuracy to ±5%, far exceeding the standard requirements.


Key points of on-site operation and maintenance management

The standard stipulates a strict operation and maintenance cycle:

  • Weekly Check for data abnormalities
  • Monthly explosion-proof structure inspection
  • Complete charge and discharge calibration every six months
Special warning: Battery replacement must maintain the same specifications as the original factory, and maintenance work must be carried out by the manufacturer.
