Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the test method for the determination of sulfur content in gasoline and diesel using single-wavelength dis ersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. This standard is applicable to the determination of total sulfur content in single-phase gasoline, diesel, and different dis illates used to blend gasoline and diesel in refineries. The precis on of this standard was determined by studies in multiple laboratories with representative liquid samples as described in clauses 1.1 and 1.2. The range of measuring sulfur content is 2mg/kg~500mg/kg. The combined determination limit value (PLOQ) of this standard is estimated to be 4mg/kg. 1.2 If the matrix of the standard sample used is consis ent with the matrix of the sample, or the matrix correction in Appendix A is applied to the analysis results, gasoline samples with added oxygenates can also be analyzed by this standard. 1.3 After dilution with a suitable solvent, gasoline and diesel with a sulfur content exceeding 500 mg/kg can also be analyzed by this standard. This standard does not examine the precis on and bias of the determination of sulfur content in diluted samples, and may be different from the results lis ed for undiluted samples. 1.4 When the elemental composition of the sample is significantly different from that of the standard sample used to establis the calibration curve, precautions and recommendations should be followed, otherwis the analysis results will be interfered with. 1.5 This standard uses International System of Units (SI) units. 1.6 This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment. However, it does not address all safety is ues related to this Therefore, it is necessary for users to establis appropriate safety precautions and determine the applicability of relevant regulatory limitations before using this standard.
