1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard specifies the test equipment, test sample preparation, test procedure and data processing method adopted for the measurement of the brake lining resistance to water, saline solution, oil and brake fluid performance of motor vehicles.
This standard is applicable to the drum brake lining and the disc brake gasket for motor vehicles.

3 Terms

3.1 Immersion resistance performance
Lining materialThe capacity of resisting the changes in thickness and shear strength aspects because of immersion. Thereinto, the immersion resistance performance in the thickness aspect is expressed by the average thickness difference of the test sample before and after immersion; the immersion resistance performance in the shear strength aspect is expressed by the percentage of the corresponding value on the immersed and non-immersed test samples.

4 Immersion Liquids

a. water;
b. Saline solution: weigh 100g chemical pure sodium chloride that meets the requirements of GB 1266 and dissolve it in 500mL water, then dilute it with water to 1L and shake it up;
c. Oil: the oil shall meet the requirements of No. 2 Oil as specified in GB 1690;
d. Brake fluid: No.719 synthetic brake fluid.
