Scope
This standard specifies the general characteristics, performance, testing, safety, reliability, maintainability and quality requirements of ground support equipment (GSE) and systems used in launch, landing, recovery site facilities or other parts related to launch, landing, and recovery sites of space systems. This standard does not specify the design of GSE, but specifies the minimum requirements for providing simple, rugged, safe, reliable, maintainable and economical GSE. This standard applies to the design of non-flight hardware and software for the transportation, reception, printing, assembly, inspection, testing, inspection, maintenance and recovery operations of launch vehicles and payloads at launch, landing or recovery sites. Hardware used in manufacturing, research and development or test sites can refer to the requirements specified in this standard. GSE temporarily used for launch, landing or recovery sites should fully comply with the safety requirements of this standard.
