本标准规定了用电量法测定试样中总硫含量的方法。
本标准适用于沸点为40～310℃的轻质石油产品，硫含量测定范围为0.5～1000ppm。大于1000ppm硫含量试样，可轻稀释后测定。
本标准不适用于卤素含量大于10倍硫含量，总氮含量大于10%，重金含量超过500ppm的试样。
