Scope

This standard specifies methods for determining the pour point of petroleum products using automatic instruments. The instrument applies a controlled pulsed flow of nitrogen to the cooling specimen surface while using optical instruments to examine movement of the specimen surface. The applicable range of this standard is -57℃~51℃. In 1992, only the inter-laboratory statistical test for the temperature range of -39°C to 6°C was completed, and in 1998 the statistical test for the temperature range of -51°C to -11°C was completed (see Article 13.4). This standard can be measured using 1°C or 3°C intervals. This standard does not apply to the determination of crude oil pour point. This standard uses International System of Units [SI] units. The application of this standard may involve certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but it does not make recommendations on all safety issues related thereto. Users are responsible for establishing appropriate safety and protection measures before using this standard, and clarify its restricted scope of application.
