Scope

This section specifies the method for testing the eye irritation potential of cosmetics using the in vitro neutral red absorption method. This section applies to soluble surfactants and surfactant-based cosmetic raw materials and formulated products. This section is suitable for testing products with weak eye irritation. It is not applicable to substances that are difficult to tolerate, volatile, colored and reactive to lysosomes. This part is a pre-screening test for the eye irritation potential of cosmetics. It can be used as part of a combination or series of in vitro eye irritation test methods to make the final classification of the eye irritation of cosmetics.
