Standard Overview and Technical Background

SN/T 4730-2016 is a plant quarantine industry standard issued by the General Administration of Customs of China. It provides standardized methods for the detection and identification of Xanthomonas chrysanthemi (Dickeya chrysanthemi). This pathogen can cause soft rot in over 200 plant species, including chrysanthemums and potatoes, and is of significant international quarantine importance.

Implementation Recommendations

  1. Suspected samples should be stored at -80℃ for no more than 3 months
  2. A double identification process is recommended: Biolog system initial screening + PCR confirmation
  3. Pay attention to identification with similar bacterial species (Pectobacterium)
  4. For quarantine treatment, it is recommended to soak in 70℃ hot water for 10 minutes
