This standard innovatively adopts a dissolution scheme that uses a constant temperature water bath shaker in conjunction with a stoppered Erlenmeyer flask to achieve selective dissolution of feather down using a 0.9-1.1 mol/L sodium hypochlorite solution at (20±2)℃. In-depth analysis of the method principle

Based on the specific solubility of feather protein fiber in alkaline hypochlorite, the polyester fiber maintains stable chemical properties. After dissolution, the component content is calculated by mass difference subtraction. Special attention should be paid to the following:

  • Sodium hypochlorite concentration needs to be verified by iodine titration
  • Residues need to be manually checked for hair stem impurities
  • Parallel test tolerance ≤1%
