This standard systematically regulates for the first time the use of tools such as GPS locators and specimen collection boxes for the weed base survey at ports of entry, and clearly requires key monitoring of the 20m range along the transportation route and the 100m area within the edge of the completely hardened ground.

Case: A port discovered the invasion of ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) during monitoring in 2023. According to Chapter 12 of this standard, emergency measures were initiated, and a combination of physical eradication + chemical control measures were adopted. The subsequent three-year monitoring showed that the population inactivation rate was >95%.
Handling of special situations: When quarantine weeds are found, 3 copies of verification specimens must be prepared according to Appendix D and submitted to the China Institute of Inspection and Quarantine within 72 hours.

This standard inherits the alien weed monitoring framework of SN/T 4981, and its innovations include:
1. For the first time, the survey scope of 1km buffer zone is clarified
2. The linkage monitoring mechanism of phenological period and climate zone is refined (Appendix A)
3. New enclosed transport exemption clause is added (Article 8.3.3)

Q:Are perennial shrubs included in the survey scope?
A:According to Article 6.2, only non-artificially planted herbs and shrubs are surveyed, and horticultural crops are not included in the statistics.
