Introduction

Standard Background and Significance

As the first animal welfare-specific specification for the donkey industry chain in my country, this standard fills the gap in special livestock and poultry welfare management. Its release marks the deepening development of my country's animal welfare standard system into subdivided fields, which is of great value to improving the compliance of donkey products in international trade.

Comparative Analysis of Core Requirements

Links Key Indicators International Standard Reference Innovation Points
Feeding Daily water supply ≥ 5% of body weight OIE Land Code The first prevention and control plan for donkey transport stress syndrome
Transport Transport density formula: 0.021×body weight0.67 EU (EC) 1/2005 Quantitative requirements for thickness of anti-slip padding
Slaughter Bleeding within 20 seconds after stunning US HACCP Three stunning methods are required in parallel

Interpretation of key technologies

1. Feeding environment design

The construction of donkey sheds must meet the three-zone separation principle (male and female sheds/fattening sheds/slaughter pens), among which parameters such as the slope of the donkey bed, the size of the feeding trough (upper width 60-70cm), and the width of the manure ditch (35-40cm) are all determined through animal behavior research.

2. Transport stress prevention and control

Typical case: After applying the standard, an enterprise in Inner Mongolia reduced the transport mortality rate from 3.2% to 0.8% through the following measures:

  • Replenish electrolyte water 5 hours before loading
  • Lay 20cm of sterilized hay in the carriage
  • Stop for inspection every 8 hours

Implementation suggestions

  1. Facility modification:Refer to the donkey bed construction standards in Appendix A, and focus on modifying the anti-collision design of the feeding trough
  2. Staff training:Special emphasis should be placed on practical training on restraint operations (Article 3.4 of the standard) and stunning positioning (Article 6.5.2)
  3. Record management:It is recommended to establish a transport log to record key parameters such as temperature, humidity, and stop points

Technology Evolution Analysis

Compared with GB/T 20014.3-2013 Good Agricultural Practice, this standard has three major breakthroughs:

  • The calculation formula for donkey transportation space is quantified for the first time
  • The transition period of anti-stress feed is clarified (1-3 weeks)
  • The applicable scenarios of the three stunning methods are detailed
