Scope

This standard specifies technical measures to prevent ignition of flammable liquids and gases in situations where static electricity, lightning and stray current may exist. This standard applies to the management of transportation, storage, loading and unloading of liquid petroleum products. This standard does not apply to the following situations: a) Electrostatic discharge may occur, but flammable vapors in the discharge area can be removed or inerted. b) Store and transport products in closed systems where the oxygen content is below the minimum concentration required for combustion. c) The concentration of flammable substances is always higher than the upper flammability limit (UFL). d) Static electricity hazards in solid transportation.
