Scope

This part of SY/T 6577 applies to the inland waterway and marine transportation of pipeline steel pipes conforming to GB/T 9711, API Spec 5L, or ISO 3183, unless certain provisions are specifically noted as applicable only to inland waterway transport. Inland waterways refer to rivers, straits, inland canals, bays, and other navigable waters with various levels of protective capabilities; their routes may be fresh or saltwater, and the carriers are barges.
Marine channels refer to open seas where there is limited or no protection against wind, currents, and waves. The vessels used for transportation are sea ships. This part applies to pipeline steel pipes with an outer diameter (OD) of not less than 60.3 mm.
This part includes both coated and uncoated steel pipes but does not cover loading methods aimed at preventing damage to the pipe coating. It does not apply to ships or supply vessels used for laying pipelines. This part supplements existing transportation regulations established by national authorities.
This part is formulated to facilitate the loading and transportation of pipeline steel pipes by purchasers and manufacturers, and other supplementary provisions may be agreed upon through mutual negotiation.
