Scope

The purpose of this standard is to help operators and contractors improve their safety programs, it must be understood that contractors working in the petrochemical industry are very different. Some contractors are engaged in construction, transportation, drilling, and well workovers, while other specialized contractors provide skills and service work that the operator's employees do not typically perform, such as the maintenance and operation of equipment. An effective safety program requires these contractors with different functions and purposes because it protects operators and contractor workers from injury and illness, and also reduces losses due to contractor work accidents.
