Scope

This standard specifies the minimum requirements for reciprocating compressors with or without oil lubrication of the cylinders used for conveying process air or gas in the petroleum, chemical and natural gas industries and their drives. This standard applies to medium and low speed compressors and associated lubrication systems, controls, instrumentation, intercoolers, aftercoolers, pulsation suppression devices and other auxiliary equipment. This standard does not apply to the following compressors: a) Integral gas engine driven compressors. b) Compressors with single acting barrel type (automotive type) piston (playing crosshead role). c) Plant or instrument air compressors with a rated discharge pressure less than or equal to 9 bar (125 psig).
