Introduction

Standard Background and Scope of Application

This standard establishes technical specifications for the entire process from collection and temporary storage to final disposal of oily sludge generated during the production of unconventional oil and gas such as shale gas and coalbed methane. It is applicable to the pollution control of oily drill cuttings (oil content ≤ 10%) from onshore operations and oily mixtures from oil and gas processing.

1. Collection and temporary storage specifications

  • Use impermeable storage tanks or special containers to control VOC volatilization
  • The impermeability coefficient of the temporary storage facility is ≤10-7cm/s
  • The transfer vehicle must be equipped with a GPS positioning system

2. Treatment technology route

Case: The thermal desorption + solvent extraction combined process of the shale gas field in southern Sichuan has reduced the oil content of drill cuttings from 8% to 0.5%, and the recovered oil is used to configure new drilling fluid.

Implementation suggestions

  1. Establish a full life cycle ledger management system for oily sludge
  2. Give priority to thermal desorption equipment with low energy consumption and high recovery rate
  3. Landfills should be equipped with double-layer HDPE impermeable membrane + leachate collection system

Standard Evolution Analysis

Compared with SY/T 7301-2016, this standard adds solvent desorption technical requirements, refines resource utilization paths, and strengthens environmental monitoring requirements after the temporary storage facilities are closed.
