Scope

This standard applies to signaling electrical equipment installed in the railway environment and does not include equipment installed on rolling stock. This standard specifies the test items, test conditions and limits for electromagnetic emissions from railway signaling electrical equipment, and stipulates the test items, test levels and performance criteria for immunity tests. In most cases, the immunity level allows the device to function as intended in a railway environment. Immunity levels establish a common reference standard for evaluating the performance of a device when subjected to interference, which may be caused by direct exposure of the device and connecting cables to RF fields or by coupling to distant sources of interference. If the purpose of a port transmitting or receiving is wireless communications, the emission and immunity limits for communication frequencies in this standard do not apply. This standard does not give basic personal safety requirements, such as protection against electric shock, unsafe operations and related insulation tests. The requirements of this standard only apply when the equipment is operating in a normal state, and fault conditions are not considered. The requirements and test methods also apply to communication signal data lines and power lines connected to the equipment under test (EUT). The frequency limits for emission and immunity tests are DC to 400GHz, and tests above 1GHz have not yet been defined. Among the test items listed in this standard, except for the traction current conductivity interference immunity test, the tests are all conducted in accordance with the test layout, test procedures and test instruments specified in the corresponding standards.
