Introduction

Background of Standard Evolution

TB/T 3443.1-2016 replaces TB/T 1736-1996 version. The main technical changes are reflected in:

Comparison Dimensions 1996 Version 2016 Version
Terminology Not clearly defined Added Chapter 2 Terminology (Vehicle Type/Model/Vehicle Number)
Technical Feature Code Retain Chapter 2.2 Delete as a whole
Variant Coding Rules Mixed establishment Separation of major improvements (basic variants) and general improvements (auxiliary variants)

Core term analysis

Locomotive type: Classification by power transmission characteristics, such as HXD electric locomotive, DF diesel locomotive, etc.

Locomotive model: Classification with the same technical characteristics within the same type, example: HXD1-A indicates the first major improvement.

Locomotive number: Four-digit serial number + section number (multi-section locomotive), such as HXD2 0096A.

Vehicle Coding Structure

Articles 3.1-3.4 of the standard stipulate a three-level coding system:

  1. Basic model code: 3-5 alphanumeric characters (such as HXD1)
  2. Basic variant code: added for major improvements (A/B/C...)
  3. Auxiliary variant code: added for general improvements (AA/AB...)

Typical application case: HXD1-B/AA means:
① HXD1 technology platform ② 2nd major improvement (B) ③ 1st general improvement (AA)

Implementation suggestions

New locomotives: Unique basic model codes must be assigned strictly in accordance with Article 3.2 to avoid duplication with existing models.

Improvement management: Major improvements (such as transmission system upgrades) use basic variant codes, and general improvements (such as interior updates) use auxiliary variant codes.

Informatization docking: It is recommended to establish a code verification module in the ERP system to ensure the standardized use of "-" and "/" symbols.
