Scope
6 Indoor Air Quality Health Index for Vehicles
6.1 Basic Indicators
6.1.1 The indoor air quality inside the vehicle should meet the requirements specified in Table 1.
Table 1 - Basic Indicators and Testing Methods for Indoor Air Quality of Healthy Passenger Vehicles
Item No. Indicator Limit Unit Test Method
1 Particulate Matter (PM2.5) ≤0.035 mg/m³ As per the method stipulated by CAHI-SM-PM
2 Formaldehyde (HCHO) ≤0.08 mg/m³ As per the test conducted at room temperature as specified in CAHI-SM-VOC
3 Xylene (C8H10) ≤0.15 mg/m³
4 Odor Intensity 3.5-grade Non-dimensional
6.1.2 The indoor air quality health indicators for healthy passenger vehicles can also be managed through the installation of an in-vehicle air quality monitoring system that displays dynamically.
6.1.3 Passenger vehicle manufacturers should ensure that the total bacterial count inside the vehicle meets the requirements specified in GB/T 18883 and that the concentration of negative ions complies with T/GIEHA 011.
6.1.4 By using interior decorations and electronic equipment to generate negative ions, the release quantities of ozone and radioactive substances should meet the regulations stipulated in GB/T 18883.
6.2 Vehicle Health Index
6.2.1 The indoor air quality health index for healthy passenger vehicles is managed based on health index weights (see Table 2).
Table 2 - Management of Indoor Air Quality Health Index Scores for Healthy Passenger Vehicles
Item No. Indicator Limit Unit Score
1 Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) concentration and indoor odor intensity Three-star (★★★) Non-dimensional 80 ≤ V < 85 V * 2.4 points
Four-star (★★★★) 85 ≤ V < 90 V * 2.9 points
Five-star (★★★★★) 90 ≤ V ≤ 100 V * 3.4 points
2 Airborne Particles Three-star (★★★) 80 ≤ V < 85 V * 2.0 points
Four-star (★★★★) 85 ≤ V < 90 V * 2.5 points
Five-star (★★★★★) 90 ≤ V ≤ 100 V * 3.0 points
3 Indoor Allergen Risk Three-star (★★★) 70 ≤ V < 80 V * 2.0 points
Four-star (★★★★) 80 ≤ V < 90 V * 2.5 points
Five-star (★★★★★) 90 ≤ V ≤ 100 V * 3.0 points
4 Microorganisms (bacterial count) ≤1,000 CFU/m³ 45 points
5 Negative Ions ≥3,000 per cm³ 15 points
Note: V is the vehicle health index, and specific results are based on tests conducted according to the methods specified in CAHI-SM-VOC, CAHI-SM-PM, and CAHI-SM-VAR.
