Scope

This standard specifies the gas chromatography method for the determination of menthol in mainstream cigarette smoke. This standard is applicable to the determination of menthol in the total particulate matter in mainstream cigarette smoke captured by smoking cigarettes under standard and non-standard conditions. The quantitative limit of menthol in the total particulate matter in mainstream cigarette smoke determined by this method is 0.0083 mg/cigarette.
