Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for IPv6 site multi-homing based on shim6. It specifies the characteristics, design goals and operating principles of shim6, including message formats, protocol processing rules, and how to detect failures between two communication nodes. It also specifies A detection protocol was developed. If a failure occurs and another pair of operational interfaces and/or addresses can be found, the use of this probe protocol can be used to select another pair of operational interfaces and/or addresses between the same nodes. This standard applies to hosts and network devices that support the IPv6 site multi-homing protocol.
