Scope

This standard specifies the classification and requirements for polymer-based crown and bridge materials, and also specifies test methods corresponding to the requirements of these standards. This standard applies to polymer-based crown and bridge materials for permanent veneers or anterior crowns made in the laboratory with or without contact with metal surfaces. This standard also applies to polymer-based crown and bridge materials that the manufacturer claims can be bonded to the metal base material without the need for protrusions or mesh retention on the metal base material. This standard does not apply to polymer-based materials for crowns, veneers or restorations used in direct dental restorations, nor to those used in the load-bearing areas of posterior teeth.
