本标准规定了高压侧交流额定电压为7.2kV~40.5kV、低压侧交流额定电压不超过1kV、变压器最大容量为1600kVA、工作频率为50Hz的公众能接近的户外预装箱式变电站的使用条件、额定参数、一般结构要求和试验方法。预装箱式变电站是通过电缆连接的，可以在它的内部或外部进行操作。预装箱式变电站可以在地面上安装，也可以部分或全部在地面下安装。由于在老化或腐蚀方面没有基本的被普遍接受的行业标准、国家标准、IEC或ISO标准可供使用，本标准提出的有关这些方面的要求由用户和制造厂家商定。
