Scope

This part of GB/T 14048 applies to semiconductor controllers and starters for AC motors intended to be connected to circuits with a rated voltage not exceeding AC 1000V, which may have a series mechanical switching device. This standard specifies the characteristics of semiconductor controllers and starters for a.c. motors with or without bypass switching devices when used. Semiconductor controllers and starters for AC motors covered by this standard are generally not intended for breaking short-circuit currents. Therefore, appropriate short-circuit protective devices should be used (see 8.2. This appendix specifies the test methods for verifying the performance of the overload protective devices in the starter when the starter is used in conjunction with the SCPD.
